Rara Lake Trek

RaraLake Trek is an unique features of trekking in Nepal with full of cultural and beautiful scenery in Far North West located between Jumla and Mugu district in nepal. Rara Lake, which is largest Lake in Nepal Himalaya covers 10.8 square kilometers and altitude 2,990 masl, located. which has wonderful environment.

Trek will run  to Rara Lake Trek by attractive flight to Nepalgunj. And from Nepalhung we will fly another short flight to Jumla, a headquarter town of Jumla itself located far north west Nepal and we start to  walk towards to Mugu District. We can have another flight from Nepalgunj to Tancha airport, which is very short distance for Raralake but it is not frequently on flight schedule. We can have another way to reach by jeep to Raralake as well

Rara Lake is being protected as Rara National Park considered as smallest park of the country, and altitude range from 1,800masl to 4,048 masl of perfect Blue Pine, Himalayan Spruce, Coniferous Forest, Black Juniper, Oak, Himalayan Cypress, and other species.

Likewise, Musk Deer, other wildlife includes Himalayan black bear, Lopard, Goral, Himalayan Thar and wild Boar, Snow Trout is the only fish species recorded in peaceful RaraLake area

Birds like Gallinaceous birds and Migrant Waterfowl are also being seen commonly sighted around the lake area.

An interesting and  scenic flight to warm tropical area of Nepalgunj and we may get another flight to Jumla, which is the place for starting to trek to raralake through Thakuri Malla and Tibetan influenced tribes with rich old traditions and customs.

In the same way after completion of  Rara Lake trek we walk back to Jumla passing Pina 2580 masl, Jhyari, Chauta 2770 masl,  Ghurchi Lagna pass 3460 masl (the highest zone of the trek). After that being back to downhill to Jumla through Tharamara 3270 masl. We may explore in Jumla as wel with their culture, nature and traditions.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome at the airport (1300 masl) and transfer to hotel.
May you observe such wonderful views over the mountains. may you receive by the officers of Nepal Edumedic Travel and Trekking Company and transfer to Hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing explore the city and prepare for the trek.
You can spend this day exploring some of the World heritage sites in Kathmandu valley  – Swayambhu, Pashupati Temple, Bauddha Stupa, Daarbar square and so on. And we may prepare for the trek in the afternoon.

Day 03: Fly to Nepalgunj city. 
Flight will run to Nepalgunj and may takes about 50 minutes and you may see wonderful landscape and  mountain views towards and we may explore in Nepalgunj. If you have time we can have jungle safari/ jungle walk watching birds and wild life activities in Bardia National park as well. It can be run after coming back too.

Note: From Nepalgunj we can have another jeep drive to Raralake after having Jungle activities as well

Day 04: Fly to Jumla (2540 masl) and trek  to Chauriya Chaur 3055 masl  / 5 – 6 hours. 
After having breakfast flight to Jumla takes about 40 minutes and we start to explore short in Jumla main headquarter.

From Jumla start the trek with passing  nice farm villages to reach Chauriya Chaur a nice farm village on route Rara Lake and overnight stay camp.

Day 05 : Trek to ChereChaur (3050 masl)

After having breakfast, it will trek to Chere Chaur with ascending  up along Jugad river. The trek passes through green forest, beautiful villages, ancient monasteries with wonderful landscapes Stay night at camp in Chere Chaur.

Day06 : Trek to Chala Chaur (2980 masl.)

It starts after breakfast and trail may ascend upto  Jaljala pass about 3,580 masl. After crossing  trek continue to Jaljala Chaur to Chala Chaur. Overnight at camp in Chala Chaur.

Day 07 : Trek to Sinja Valley (2485 masl):

It will start by ascending to Sinja valley through many settlements, dense forest as well as  Jaljala stream. .Sinja valley is considered as an ancient capital city of Khasa Kingdom which was ruled from 12th to 14th century AD. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 08 : Trek to Gorusinga (3050 masl )

It will start to trek uphill trail along with Hima River passing  Laha village, forest and beautiful valleys. Stay night on tented camp at Gorusinga.

Day 09 : Trek to Rara Lake (3010 masl.)

It passes through Chuchhema Danda, which is one of the finest view point to perceive adorable views of Himalayan ranges and thrilling Rara lake views. One the way we passes through Khatyar stream and few villages as well as  Murma too. Overnight at tented camp in Rara Lake.

Day 10 : Rara lake exploration day:

Rara Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Nepal Himalaya  located at an altitude of 2,290 masl and  coverage of 10.8 square kilometers. We may have such activities of boating, pleasing setting of the lake and observe verities of fish as well as hiking  around the Rake Lake and viewing wonderful views of mountains. Overnight at tented camp in Rara Lake.

Day11 : Trek to Pina (2435 masl.)

Trek goes to Pina village. It may start in easy and straight way till Gamgadi, which is  headquarters of Mugu district where government offices are located. Then after, we walk down to get Pina village. Stay night at Pina village.

Note: We may trek to Talcha Airport Mugu from Rara lake and we can have flight from Talcha to Nepalgunj or Jeep to Nepalgunj for Wildlife and bird watching camp

Day12 : Trek to Bumra (2850 masl .)

We do descend with crossing Ghurchi Lagna pass (3485masl.) from here we view beautiful mountains and villages to get Bumra. Bumra is one of the beautiful villages where we could have beautiful cultures and nature. This village is also considered as Nauri Ghat. Overnight at Bumra in tented camp.

Day13 : Trek Bumra to Jumla (2514 msl)

It may final day of trekking to Jumla after passing  Hima River and cross suspension bridge. Trail passes to downhill along with hot spring where you can take natural hot bath and get some relief your aching body. In the same way, we pass by crossing Danphe Lagna pass (3690 masl.) and reach Jumla. Stay night at Jumla.

Day14 : Fly to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj:

We fly back to Nepalgunj in the morning and after that we fly back to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj. After that we manage the hotel, buying gifts, and having traditional dinner with cultural dance show. Stay night at hotel.

Note: Wildlife safari and bird watching campin Bardia national park as well
