Trekking Grade

Trekking in Nepal  has divided in some of grades as Easy, Moderate, Strenuous and challenging treks.  If you are doing trekking in nepal first time, It is necessary to know which trek matches most with your physical capabilities in order to enjoy your trekking in Nepal . Thus, we have categorized all our treks in the following ranks as below:

Easy Treks:

Experience is not necessary at this level,  anyone who is in good health and fit enough to enjoy a good weekend hill walk can manage this grade. Usually, Easy grade treks are short in duration and at lower altitudes; often they are optional, giving a chance of a rest day. However, walking always involves some exertion: trails are seldom flat, and you must still expect to have a reasonable amount of ascent and descent. You would normally walk for 4 to 5 hours during the day. The transport is by Airplanes and Jeep.

Moderate Treks:

The Moderate treks begin to present more of a challenge to first time trekkers and are tougher than easy treks .So these treks are suitable for any walker looking for something a little more challenging and energetic. Most people who enjoy a weekend in the hills or mountains at home are capable of undertaking a trek at this level: you need to be in good health and reasonably fit, and you will almost certainly be taking regular exercise. A trek could be graded Moderate either as a fairly easy medium-duration walk, or as a harder, shorter walk. Some walking at higher altitude and the occasional longer or more difficult day may be involved, but generally conditions underfoot will be fair. A walking day would normally be between 5 to 8 hours long and no experience is necessary.

Moderate to strenuous:

A moderate to strenuous trek requires a medium level of fitness. During these treks you will be required to walk up to 6 hours in one day. The trails will not always be clear and may at times be narrow and steep. You will be at times quite high in altitude so should be prepared for colder conditions and occasional snow. Moderate to strenuous treks are normally in well facilitated areas but at times you should be prepared for minimal facilities and amenities, esp. if it is a camping trek. And you will be more isolated from major roads and towns.

Strenuous Treks:

For any trek at this level, fitness is most important and you may have to improve yours before departure. Most Strenuous treks are equivalent to extended walking in mountainous terrain at home, but usually at significantly higher altitudes; climate and remoteness can also play a part. Walking days are usually between 6 to 8 hours although there may be some longer days for pass-crossing or similar. Previous trekking experience is desirable but not essential if you are confident of your physical condition.

Challenging Treks:

Nepal Camping Treks Dolpo Trekking, Manaslu Trekking, Kanchanjunga Trekking ,Ganja- La Pass Trekking , Simikot (mt Kailash ) Trekking, Dhaulagiri Trekking, Challenging treks are only for real adventures .The main component at this level is likely to be a long , high altitude trek , uphill mountain with the possibility of some rope climbing that requires physical and mental stamina . A high level preparation is essential before embarking on one of these adventures. Altitudes will often exceed 5,000 meters where people are living in high mountain / high deserts and the treks involve camping for relatively long periods about 20-28 days or sometimes more then that . So excellent physical condition is essential and mountaineering experience is preferable.
