Overview

The snow-capped rocky peak Mount Kailash 6714m in height, regard as a holy site of Hindu god Shiva is also believed to be a place where founders of Tibetan Buddhism, Jainism and Bonpo religions once resided. Hindus and Buddhists all over the world also worship this peak as the exact “center of the Universe”.

Sacred Lake of Hindus – Mansarovar (4580m) is attached with Mt. Kailash. This Lake is so enormous, takes three full days around its surrounding. One dip into the cold water of this holy Lake is believed to free the soul of all its sins, thus carving a straight path to heaven after death. Ancient Hindu scriptures indicate this Lake as a must visit place for someone who wants to accomplish salvation – the highest level of realization in Hindu religion.

Itinerary – Mt Kailash Mansarovar Tour

Day 1:  Kathmandu to Nyalam 3750 m (Almost 150 km)

Breakfast early in the morning and drive via  Bhaktapur, Dhulikhel and reach Miteri Pool / Friendship Bridge (i.e. Nepal-China border then walk for about 15 minutes to cross Friendship Bridge and meet Tibetan guide for us and 4W drivers. After getting all legal documents at the Chinese check post then journey runs for another 35 km which can take almost 3 hours through the up-winding road to Nyalam with having beautiful scenery. Team will be transferred to the guest house in Nyalam (3700m) where basic facilities.

 Day 2: Nyalam – day free for acclimatization

Free day for acclimatization. Will go for short trek for getting  acclimatize fast.  Overnight stay at guest house.

Day 3: Nyalam- Saga 4450m (240km) (via Lalung – La 5050m) (6-7 hrs)

Breakfast early in the morning and drive to Saga. First long drive over the sandy and rocky land of Tibet with lake, nomads chasing thousands of yaks and sheep keeping. Team will  pass through the first highest pass Lalung-La 5050m. stop and stay for about 10 minutes at Lalung- La and experience how you feel at an altitude of 5050m. May you see the excellent view of Shishapangma , Gaurishankar, to Langtang Himal. Heading steadly drive through Khunmen Tso, Sinling, Karru Ongchen and Peigutso lake (4400m).

We will be crossing River Brahmaputra (Tibetan name “Yarling Tsangpo”) to reach Saga (4640m). Accomodation at guest house.

 Day 4: Saga – Paryang 4600m

Early breakfast and drive to Paryang, crossing through many villages and camp of yak herders. Far south you can see snow-capped mountain peaks. Most of the time you will be driving on plains, best drive. Reach in Paryang and take drinks

Day 5: Paryang- Mansarovar 4558m (277km)

Early breakfast and be ready for too long driving day of travel. Late afternoon you can see first view of Holy Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. Here , a small village is situated near Holy Mansarovar Lake. Holy Mansarovar (14950 ft /4558 m)- the highest lake of fresh water with turquoise complexion, full of fishes and swans. Holy Mt. Kailash, Mt. Gurula- Mandala, Lake Rakshash are lying on its surrounding. The region is considered rich for gold and other mines, hot springs and hundreds of wild living creatures.

 Day 6: Mansarovar – Tarchen (40km)

Holy Mansarova is the lake of compassion, calm and pleasure. After completing the memorable morning bath Religious activities may perform and heading to Holy Mansarovar Parikrama by 4W with having packed lunch and thoroughly driving to Tarchen (Darchen). If having time, we visit Chui Gompa. Tarchen (Darchen), Chui Gompa. Tarchen is considered as a base camp for Holy Kailash Parikrama. During the auspicious pilgrimage time, this place will be busy with pilgrims with hundreds of tents all around.

Day 7: Tarchen- Tarboche (13 km drive) – Dirapuk (4860m) (7 km trek /5-6 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Tarboche – starting point of Kailash Parikrama. Tarboche is also known as outer “Asthapath”. It is one of the exciting days walking along the beautiful rock, waterfalls with some clouds in the clear blue sky make you feeling awesome For crossing 7 km trail takes almost 7 hrs.

Day 8: Dirapuk – Zuthulpuk (4760 m ) (18 km trek/ 9-10 km) (passing through Dolma-la pass 5200m)

Today you will be climbing to Drolma-la (Dolma-La 18600ft.) and than descending gradually to Zuthulpuk (4760m). Yamasthal should be crossed to reach the Shiva- sthal while your steps go closer to the pass.

Today is the most difficult day of the trek. Once you reach the top, just do the holiest offering and sit down for meditation to forget in eternity. Once your steps go down, Parvati-stal and Gauri Kunda are on the way. By late afternoon you will arrive in Zuthulpuk (the cave of Miracles, the great ascetic Milerappa is supposed to have performed miracles here).

Day 9: Zuthulpuk – Tarchen (Darchen) (10km/4-5 hrs) – Mansarovar (end of Kailash Parikrama)

Morning free time to explore the caves, temples and shrime around Milarepa cave. After walking 3 hours, all the driving crew will be waiting for your arrival. By late afternoon you will be at your accommodation lodge/camp near Mansarovar Lake.

Day 10: Drive to Dongba (366km)7-8 hrs.

Accommodation at Guesthouse.

Day 11: Drive Dongba to Nyalam (376 km ) 7-8 hrs.

Day 12: Drive Nyalam to Kathmandu (156 km)6-7 hrs.

Overnight at Hotel

Day 13 and 14:  Kathmandu Rest

Day 15:  Final Departure

 

Simikot to Kailash – Mansarovar Lake

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and get accommodation

Day 02: Drive  to Nepalgunj by flight and transfer to hotel. Overnight at the local hotel with visiting such typical culture
Day 03: Fly from Nepalgunj to Simikot (2,856m.). Heading to Majgaon (2,400m.), Walking takes approximately 4 hours. Group / travelers  will join in Simikot, start trekking to Majgaon. The trail climbs to the Simikot Lagna in about 2 hours, and then starts to decline steeply into the Karnali gorge. Camp is made under some walnut trees by long tea house or nearby on the opened ground.

Day 04: Heading to Danda Karmi (2550m.) Towards the upper Karnali river valley, Toling and Dharapani village, ascending towards Karmi village. Times almost 6 to 7 hours. Overnight may compromise on the open field at Danda Karmi.

Day 05: To Yalbang Chaur (2,700m). Karmi is the first village that you will be passing; this village is inhabited by upper Humla .

Day 06: Trek to Tumkot Khola (2800m.). Climb gradually to the village of Yalbang. From here the upper trail passes through Toothpaling monastery. while the lower one leads directly to the village of Yankhar. Another 3 hours of

Day 07: Trek to Yari (3,450m.). After crossing a wooden bridge over Tumkot Khola, walking hour 5- 6 hours

Day 08: Trek to over Nara La Pass (4,325m.) to Sher (3,600m.) in Tibet. It will take 3 to 4 hours to cross the Nara La Pass from Yari.

Day 09: Trek to Kocher / Purang (3,600m.) Bus/Van/Hiace drive to Taklakot (3,500m.). After breakfast, you will start your trek, passing through a village of Sher, the first Tibetan village that you come across along the trail. The gravel trail continues, twisting & bending finally reaching the village of Kocher. After boarding the bus or a lorry take a ride to Taklakot (also known) as Purang or Burang ride may last for an hour. Accomodation at Purang.

Day 10: Jeep / Van / Hiace drives to Darchen (4,500m.) at the base of Mt. Kailash. From Chiu Gompa, the jeep journey again continues heading north to a village called Darchen. Darchen is a small settlement at the button of the Southern slopes of the holy mountain – Kailash. Overnight camp at Dharchen.

Day 11: Darchen – Dirapuk: After breakfast, drive to Yamdwar & trek start and after 5 – 6 hours walk and reach to Dirapuk which is 4,890m. In elevation from sea level and overnight in camp or Lodge

Day 12: Dirapuk – Zutulpuk: Early in the morning take breakfast and start Parikrama and pass Dolmala, See Gauri Kund and continues to Zutulpuk which will takes approximately 08 hours. It is 4,790m in elevation and overnight in camp or Lodge.

Day 13: Zutulpuk – Darchen – Manasarovar Lake:  Trek to Chongdo and it takes 3 hours easy waking down. Drive to Mansarovar Lake via Darchen. Over night in Lodge / camping.

Day 14: Mansarovar Lake to Saga by drive and over night in  hotel

Day 15: Drive Saga to Syabru Beshi and over night in hotel

Day 16: Syabru Beshi to Kathmandu (Morning take a breakfast and drive to Trishuli Baazar and Kathmandu)

Day 17: Transfer to airport for final departure
